It looks like a Tradition's Kentucky Model rifles. They are good shooters from what I heard. Keep us posted. Are you going to make him put it together or is this going to be a group project? By the way, great picture of your kids there...

Those are excellent shooters! I have the .50cal flintlock. Mine likes 110 grains FFFg goex, .018 pillow ticking and a roundball.

we got a chance to take the rifle parts out of the box the other day, and from what i see its going to be a real headache. nothing lines up, the forearm and the stock are misslined by at least 1/8 inch, the butt plate cut is bad off, the hammer won't line up with the nipple, ramrod is warped, but other than that it sure looks like its going to be real fun to make work. haley has named it the "TERMINATOR".

either take it back to bass pro or call traditions and tell them about it. They more than likely will send you a new kit. Dont do any work to it!

i have therifle almost done, it just took some grinding and filing. they are sending me a different ramrod but i have a problem with the sights. the dovetail cuts on the barrel are a little big or the sights themself are to small, they just slide right through if you hold it to the side. anyone have a fix for this. i thought about drilling a small hole through the sight plateand tapping it that way i could put a set screw in it, but thats going to be big job on such a little parts. is there any kind of glue or cement bond i could use. give me some more id's if you have any.

would it be possible to shim that rear sight? Perhaps some pop can shims... the trouble is, would you ever trust it. I wonder if a different dovetail sight would work in there?
