Default loads ideas for a new englander

well went on and started redoing the finish on the new englander. first coat on. that may be all I put on it. I like how it looks. worked on the rust in the barrel. used something I found in the auto dept at wally world and it worked well. now my back hurts and got a little buzz from the chemicals I used, and a little tired.

I thought I would ask about loads for the new englander,

roundball, conicals, and about anything you want to try...

Start with 70 grains of powder and work up from there. All you can do is try different loads and see how the rifle shoots.

Round balls would certainly be fun fr something - but there is a learning curve to get them to shoot correctly...

For a really quick answer call Dave Stevens, (801) 776-1418 and order some .503/460 grain Conicals... $22.95 for 50 + $10 shipping. He mail them right to you that very day - then you send him payment when you get the shipment... Just a clue if you order two boxes shipping be $1 more for the two so it is kinda like getting another box 1/2 price.

Follow the powder recommend Cayugad gave you. I shoot 80 grain T7-3f in my Renegades, but Cayugad's directions are a little more conservative and should be where you start, when just starting.

Not really knowing the conditions of your bore - I would shoot several of them before I even became concerned about grouping. running those bore sized lead bullets through there will help clean up that barrrel some also. In the end might even need to fire-lap the barrel a bit.

Mine likes Greatplains 385 conical with 80 gr 777 2fg.It is a good shooter with round ball with 50/60 gr Pyro RS. And if you want to get a little Non-Traditional,mine is DEADLY with a Nosler 45 Colt 250gr and 90 gr 777 2fg.
