Does the cabelas 209 conversion kit keep the flash down in the bolt area better than the remington 209 kit? And is it easier to pull the primer out after the shot?

A big YES! to both questions - it is a much better conversion than the Remington... + it is really easy to make a weather shield from a 20 guage shotgun hull that will provide extra protection to the scope.

Even with the Cabelas conversion there still will be some blowback..

When you cut the wad - you need to cut it right next to the metal and that is the end that needs to go on the bolt.

That is where my pic came from Photobucket...

I go two of them to post... I think... they might be to large (pixels)...

Dang! that is a nice looking gun - the Rem 700ML is my favorite...

This shotgun wad weather shield will work very well with the Cabelas conversion - there might be to much blow back with the Remington conversion...

Have to cheat the system a bit

Both my Remingtons came with factory weather sheilds. Maybe they were both early models?
That is a nice TH stock. I had some one ask once if they came with a wood stock? I didn't ever hear of one and supposed you had bought a custom stock to work on yours.
My 54 cal Remington is my favorite right now, it has the Cabelas system 209.
