Default TC Muzzleloading shotgun

I recently puchased a encore 12 gauge muzzleloading shotgun for turkey hunting. The recomended maximum ounces of shot is 1 5/8. My cousin had puchased the same gun 3 years ago and shoots 2 oz of shot very well out of his. Has anything changed? Does anyone have any information that could help clear this up for me.

Well there are recommended loads and loads that work in the gun. All you can do is try different loads. If the max amount of shot is 1 5/8th then stick with that. Or call Thompson Center and make sure that the shotgun can take that much. The more shot you add the more the load pressures.
