Default Firestorm breechplug??

The breechplug on a T/C Firestorm is coned shaped for pellets that I no longer shoot. This cone makes it hard to pick the touch hole...what ever you use as a pick hits the cone part of the breechplug. I use only blackpowder so I was wondering if it would do any harm to remove the coned part of the breechplug??

I'd call T/C & ask.
(I might do it anyway if it were mine, but I'd get their opinion first)

I would never make a modification to the breech plug of a rifle like that without checking with the manufacturer. It could be dangerous and could invalidate the warranty.

I understand that...but is it really any different than altering(drilling out and coning)a touch hole liner? Seems like alot of people do that.

I recently read about one person who reportedly removed his Firestorm's breechplug and turned the face of it flat on a lathe. He stated that the gun
went off better and also shot better groups afterward.
