Default GPR & X-150 Today

Took out the Great Plains rifle and the X-150 today.

Fired 3 shots first with the GPR .54 Flintlock, 20 grains 4f as a booster along with 70 grains pyrodex P. .018 pillow ticking and .530 roundball. 50 yards. Really happy with how they grouped. Its shooting far right but i am going to leave it there until i can buy some real black powder and make sure its actually shooting correctly. Instant ignition on all shots.

X-150 loaded with 80 grains pyrodex P, 295 grain aerotip powerbelt. #3 shot was low, that was my fault. I havent shot the rifle for about 4 months and the fiberoptics were really weird to me. #2 and #3 shots are always the groupers and if you were to slide #3 shot up, it would be clipping #2 hole. This is a really good sign for me because i never could get the powerbelts to group this tight with such a low powder charge. It always took around 120 grains RS to group 1" @ 100 yards with the lighter weight powerbelts. So far the new breech plug has helped a lot. Should have picked up some great plains conicals!

The X-150 felt really weird in my hands. Im used to the traditional rifles. Also used the winchester 777 primers and they all went off perfectly.

Still have 300 grain cva deerslayer conicals to try in the X-150 but i am going to save those for a warmer day. It looks like i will be dead on @ 100 yards once i get out that far. To much snow and to darn cold for my liking

Really like the way the GPR is turning out. Coming together really slow, but thats always a good thing at the end.

GPR is shooting just a touch to low, but i will adjust that with a higher powder charge as soon as i get some goex.

Felt great to shoot the X-150 again.

Had a long day with the GPR. First shot at 50 yards was a little low, 2" to the left. Next shot, Way the heck over to the right. Loaded up #3 and i notice something move in my hand. Yup! Rear sight was loose! Took it in to the house, peened the sight to get it to fit tight, took it back outside, #1-#2 shots were directly center and clipping the top edge of the orange. #2 shot was a little higher, 3/4" center center. After those shots i was fighting, flash in the pans until i upped the 4f boost charge up a little. 70 grains pyro p with 20ish grains 4f seems to be a good load, 80 grains should put me close to dead on @ 100 yards.

Out of powder, Time to clean the rifle. Also time to make a trip on buy a few lbs of goex. Mixing powder sucks and isnt consistant in a flinter.

Also, Had to finally turn the agate flint around on the new edge. I broke the other side finally. What.... Only a little over one hundred shots on it?

I belive its a CVA with winchesters name on it. I have one and love it I belive the only difference between the cva and the winchester is the stock on the winchesters are nicer.

Better barrel material too. Along with a Polished SS bolt. Durabright steel sights VS cva's plastic sights. Alum. Ramrod

I'll miss that rifle.
