Dinner...

Looks like some excellent venison flash fried to brown both sides a little, and then left to simmer in it's own juices. That looks really good.

I make a dish something like that in my old cast iron dutch overn, I add onions, carrots, peas, red pepper, green peppers, potatoes, and when it is all nice and cooked, remove everything but the juices.. Then I thicken the juices with a pack of powdered brown gravy mix, adding water until I get the right consistancy. Be sure to work the lumps out. Then put all the stuff back together as one, inwith the thick brown gravy.

That really does look good though.. I can almost smell it cooking..

Looks like DINNER to me. Guess it used to be some wild critter that now resides in your freezer.

Cayugad:

That recipie you described, would that work for rabbit? I am hoping to do some rabbit hunting in a few weeks and what you described sounds like a fine way to prepare them.

That looks like a good dinner. I like to finish those "quick stews" with a shot of whiskey - gives it a little more oomph.

Yes it works for rabbit also. I par boil the rabbit a little first, then flour it and fry it brown before putting it in the dutch oven... then just add all the stuff and let it simmer.
