Default Lyman GPR Wedge pins

For days now ive been scratching my head because only one wedge pin fits tight and goes through both wedge plates. Today i measure them and one is way to friggin short! How much shorter? The thickness of a penny shorter!l I'll have to email or call lyman and have them send an replacement. But this solves the problem with the barrel not locking down tight.

My understanding is.. the wedge pins fit on the Great Plains Rifles only one way. When you have them properly installed, the idea is you need to mark them somehow so you know how or where they go when you return them. I would suggest engraving a #1 & #2 on the up face in the manner they need to go back. I have heard this same complaint before from other owners.

I have the plates on right. I too noticed that the pins fit tighter if they take the wedge plates and move them the other way. The wedge it self is way to short and doesnt even go all the way through.
Very bottom pin in the pic is the good one. The one at the top is the undersized pin that is way off and doesnt even make contact with the wedge plate and easily slides out.

first pic is the bad pin thats way to short. second pic is the good pin that fits nice and tight and goes all the way through the other side of the wedge plate like its supposed to.

WOW!! that is a big difference. There has to be a reason for this.

Ok i found the online manual and it said some filing may be needed on the wedge plates for them to fit correctly. Also said if the wedge fits to loose, to use a small hammer and slightly dent the barrel lugs inward to tighten it up. Works great now!

I took 7 shots with it today at 50 yards. My first 3 were all over the place. My next 4 shots i kicked up my booster charge of 4f to 20 grains and put down 60 grains pyrodex p and it was going off really darn nice. 2 shots were in the bulls eye and touching, the other 2 drifted off to the right a bit but were still in the same hole. I really likes the bore butter .018 pillow ticking so im going to stay with that for now. I really need to do a 25lb blackpowder order so i have it on hand for a little while.
