That sounds pretty cool. Some of those older cartridge caliberguns would be fun to hunt with. Where did you ever find such a rifle? By the way, you needed another rifle. I could just feel it..

Those rifles are real nice. I have a friend who has the 45-70 and it is alot of fun to shoot. And at a reasonable price. Only problem we had was there is not enough elevation in the sight. I hope you do not have that problem. Tom.

I have a rifle in the same 38-55 caliber. Mine is the Browning copy of the Winchester High Wall. I bought a bunch of the cast silver bullets for it and it shoots them just great. I only wish I had more time to spend with it. Have to get the muzzleloaders shot first and am getting way behind. Forgot to add that it is the Browning copy of the Winchester Highwall that was a copy of the original Browning Highwall. Now that really goes around doesn't it?

A friend of mine had the same gunin .45-70 and I enjoyed shooting it. However, I had enough guns inthat caliber and wanted it inthe other caliber itcame in, .38-55.

I also loadit with the holy black and itis ahoot to shoot:

The only thing that bugs me is thatIhave to replace the fine rear sight to make it SASS Legal in Cowboy ActionShooting (CAS). I will probably put a tang sight on it.

I will be going up to the mountainsfor the last four days of our season and am toying with the idea of taking it with me. I maydo that and use my BPCR shells. I likethesmoke!!!
