Default looking to buy kit gun

Any suggestions for a ML gun kit would be appreciated.I would like something that is more traditional looking.

Also wondering if it's possible or at least a good idea to shoot shot for squirrels out of a rifled barrel.I like MLing so much that I want to do as much hunting with them as possible.
thanks
Gene

Lyman great plains rifle. Get a .54cal and then buy a green mountain .32cal barrel for the same stock for $200 and go shoot some squirrels.

The Lyman Great Plains would be a good choice. There are some other kits out there, but for a quality rifle it would by the Lyman. Shooting shot out of a rifled barrel just does not work. There is no consistency, and it leads up the bore. Get a small bore or load the rifle down and head shoot them. If you want a shotgun, get something else.
