No miss, no freeze up, no glar, and the only problem I have. I gotta make some deer steaks
I went out after I got off work, worked over and had to go to the bank, set up in my "hunting partners" stand, still in my work cloths, raw beef, chicken and pork smell,
Lined my scope up, BOOM, started cussing thought I missed, it ran closer to me, reloaded in less the 30 secs (not bad, for someone that has not worked on that). THOUGHT it was a another deer put it in my crosshairs, BOOM. watched it flop around and run. claimed down. looked, too dark to find any blood trail. grabbed my head lamp. went in to a farm that I can not hunt. found a the doe I shot. My uncle came up and help me get it back to the house. Cleaned it up, found 2 SETS of bullet holes in it. both where lung shots NO MEAT HIT AT ALL.
I am going to change bullets next year, I want some blood trail. I got lucky I found it.

Well with that load and XTP you must have had some massive internal damage to the lung area... I am surprised it managed to run all that far. But Congratulations. How far away was it from you when you shot? I take it you had no pass through?
I bet it feels good to have taken a deer with the muzzleloader... Again, congratulations. I knew you'd do it because you never gave up..!!!

first one (I thought it was a miss), about 50 to 75 yrds, pass throught bullet did not expand [:@] entrence and exit the same did not hit any ribs, second, <25 yrds, exit about the size of my index finger smashing a rib on the other side. one of the 2 blow the bottem of both lungs apart. ran maybe 20 yrds.
had too much smoke after the first shot to see where it went after the first shot. and the whole group played the shell game on me.[&:] about 6 in the group, I had to shot the closest.

Wow, the most unlucky guy on this forum got a deer! Amen. Congratulations. As for bullets to try next year use one of these on this post:
thanks I think chap, I have read every theard on it. barnes and noslers are little out of my price range/bullet. I do have an handful of 250grs golds that a member sent me to try, I may try one of those out of it. they group the same as the xtps I use now at the same charge. also have some shockwaves that fire well. also got some 45 cal xtp 250gr I may use.

Ofthe 3 the Gold Dots are the best, then the SW, the XTPs are good, but I have heard of fragmentation on game and SabotLoader shot them into dirt and they lost their jackets. So since they are the same price as the Gold Dots, go for the GD. I am glad you got your first deer with your ML, and I felt you were very unluck or unfortunate in may of your hunts, that is all. No offence or dishonor intended. Best Wishes, Chap Gleason
