Default Nice addition to the rifle rack

Mr. Big Brown truck stopped by about 30 minutes ago, He came out of the truck holding a long package that was partially bent in the middle. My stomach went into rolling knots when i took it from him. Got inside, tripped all over the place trying to get my boots off, grabbed a knife, cut the box and all the bubble wrap. Pulled the stock out first, checked it over. No cracks! Everything else, including the ramrod were is A+ shape! Shes a good sparker too! Even with that crubby Agate flint. I'll add a Tom fuller flint and see how that does.

She'll make a nice addition to my gun rack once shes done. Until i shoot it, my deercreek is my #1 go to rifle

I was quite surprised at how much wood there is that needs to be removed, but i will just take my time and enjoy the process. Everything gets browned first before i start on the stock.

Patch box and a couple inlays maybe?

I am sure that will be a great rifle. And don't underestimate that Agate.. the one I had lasted a long time and made excellent sparks.

yep cayugad, it sparks really good but i just dont like them. The tom fuller flints are the best IMO. I just feel a lot more comfortable with the TF flint.

Percussion lock and barrel are on my to buy list next

Gun safe??
I'll have to make do with my 86lb home security system

The guns look pretty secure in that last pic!
Worked for a lady that had a dog like that this summer and it like to "slobbered" me to death. Me trying to replace a pump in a sewage pit, and the dog wanting to play the whole time.[:@]

[&:] and now i found out how easily those tiny wedge plate screws break.

Thoughts on removal and replacement?

Found a whole bunch of the wedge plate screws in the bag of parts. Now just need info on how to remove the broken ones out "2"

Also found a post that said to lube them with soap and so i did and they screwed in easily.

Removal may be close to impossible. If it broke above the surface you could try a "needle nose" vise grip type plier to get a hold on it and unscrew it. If below the surface I would just drill another pilot hole and let it "run-off" slightly. That would cock the screw head at an angle, but shouldn't be too noticable.

been working on this thing for close to 3 hours and just finished wood removal by the toe plate. The lock side has massive left over wood to remove. The cheek piece side has very little. Its slow going, but im using 220 grit on my block so i dont have to deal with deep scratches. Also shaped the lock area so its deeper and stands out more. i think she'll look good with a LMF browned barrel/trim and LMF Cherry stain.

Why would anyone want a percussion when they could have a rocklock! You can always fint a piece of flint lying around, but in some places caps are hard to come by......
