Default Forgotten Rem 700 Inline 50 Cal

I was looking at my 50 cal inlines today and the thought came to me that I have never ever wotked up a load for my Rem 700 camo/blue front loader. I would assume this rifle is safe with up to at least 110 gr T7. This piece was originally purchased for my wife. Eye problems now prevent her from ever hunting or shooting again. Most posts I have read have good things to say about the Rem 700. It is still set up for #11 caps but I have considered converting it to a 209. Any thoughts?

I would leave it as is and just use a scope protector. 209s offer no real advantage when using good loose powder. I shot 90 to 100 grains of Pyrodex P under a 400 grain PRBullet Ultimate1 SPHP in mine (been awhile since I let goof that rifle) and it shot very well. Never even tried any other loads.

Remington says 120 grains is all that the Rem can burn... I shoot 110 grains T7-2f out of mine - both of my Remingtons are amoung my favorites... In fact that is what I dropped that elk with yesterday...

I like the 209 ignition, but if you decide to get one make sure you get the one from Cabeas - it is much cleaner that the Remington conversion + the primers pop right out - no tool needed. I make weather shrouds out of a piece of 20 guage shot shells to protect the scope - shooting @11'a or 209's (upper pic)

I have a Rem. 700 I have had for about 10 years. I have all ways used #11 caps with no problems. Started off shooting 100 grains pyrodex pellets and 240 xtp's with decent accuracy. But now use 100 grains loose triple7 and 250 grain shockwaves with great accuracy. Never had a problem with a crud ring some folks have talked about and triple7 cleans up real easy.

I don't own one, but before I would change anything I would shoot it the way it came... Sabotloader has always told of how well his shot. As for the rifle, I would say 120 grains would be the max, but you should refer to the owner manual to be certain.

Perhaps the most accurate muzzleloader I ever owned was a Rem. 700MLS (stainless) - consistant sub-MOA groups!!!!!!!
I finally got tired of the extra effort it took to disassemble it for cleaning and traded it off, but in reality the cleaning wasn't that bad and I should have kept it. Oh well, I've traded a lot of good ones off over the years, guess the old hindsight is 20/20 saying fits pretty well. [:@]

Still got mine. Something about the balance of that rifle, I can hold it more steady (off-hand) than any other gun I own. The last time I shot it I was shooting 2-50gr T7 pellets behind a 250 shockwave and it was driven tacks!! I still love the way that 700ML feels and shoots. I originally switched it form #11 to musket caps then put a 209 kit in it, but the primers were to hard to get out without the special extractor tool so I went back to musket caps (easier to handle in my opinion). I also had a run of bad luck with it 6 deer in a row got away. Switched to an Omega a couple of years ago mainly because of cleaning, and I couldn't resist the looks of the SS/laminate Omega(first two chances with my Omega put meat on the ground including my best ever buck).

I have had mine for 10 years or so. 100 gr of T7 pellets 250gr shockwave. It is a great shooting gun. I have shot deer out to 150 yards with it. As much as it gets beat around hunting I am always saying I have knocked it out of line. I have not had to move it since I lined it up when I got it.
