Default Stainless vs. Blued Finishes

All,
I am curious about which finish is more resistant to fouling etc...stainless or blued?

What are the pros/cons to both?

Thanks for your time!

With black powder your going to get fouling no matter what. Its the nature of the beast. Stainless is more CORROSION resistant. But even with a stainless barrel, I would clean it as soon as possible after shooting. Other than being more corrosion resistant in bad weather (exterior surfaces)I don't think there is any advantage with stainless over blued in a ML.

I agree. Stainless is more weather resistant, but stainless or blued it needs a thorough careful cleaning after use.

Stainless VS Blued.. Stain less is better. It will stain less. It will slow the clock down between cleaning times, but under no circumstances will it stop the clock. The old rule of thumb, you shoot it, you clean it. No matter what the rifle is made from. I clean them the same day they are shot, so it really does not matter to me whether it is stainless or blue.
