Default Rust in nipple area of rifle

I've actually had this for a while but thought maybe there is something I can do about it. I've got an older knight wolverine that shoots the #11 cap. I let it get rusted right in the areaof theriflewhere you place the cap. The area where the "plunger" slides to hit the cap, right behind the breech plug. I've taken steel wool and gun oil and cleaned it off really well and I keep it greased down during the off season. Is there some way I can "re-blue" this area? If so, let me know and that will give me a project for the off season. Thanks, Greg

So the rust was shallow andis completely removed? I think that would be the first requirement, then polishing the area slick, degrease and use a good cold blue. Be sure to follow directions on the cold blue to the letter.
