I was nervous going from a 300 grain xtp to a 220 grain dead center but the dead centers work great for me. The longest a deer has run has been around 30 yards. Keep up the good work. Greg

Nice going bowbender. Over 100 yards of tracking can be tough in thick brush or other difficult terrain, and a piece of cake in open woods. Did you have any problems locating them?

I'm always amazed at the toughness of these animals and how far adeer with a shredded heart and lungscan run.

Most of our hunting for does is in CRP fields with food plots on the edge. Ave size is 220 yards square. I can usually see them run for the first 100 yards that is why I chose the light flat shooting bullets. If I hunt the brush I might to a different bullet/powder combo. I am sighted in for 150 yards and this is 3" high @ 80 yards. I tried the Barnes all copper but the were 4" higher and left of my PR bullet. So far I have recovered all the deer shot with PR bullets, but they have ran a lot. The first doe had part of its heart shot, both lungs and either the bullet or a piece of rib blew a hole in the liver. She ran 130 yards into a drainage ditch but couldn"t make it out the other side of the ditch. I watched her all the way so recovery was no problem.

That's what I was thinking. Use a 340 gr PR DC, 250 gr T7 pellets and go pick them up where they were shot.
