Default range report (conical w/sabot test) (pics work)

Went to the range to get ready for late ml. I was not planning to post the target for my current load (.430 240gr xtp pushed with 85grs of pyrodex p). but it was pretty damn good. there are a 11 holes on the target, I only shot 10 loads. lol

I shot 5 with a mmp sabot and 5 with tc mag express. my gun seemed to like the mag express better

I also tested 5 hornady great plains out of mmp hph-24 black sabots, they where all over the place, did not recover any sabot, too many on the ground to tell which ones where mine. one missed the paper all together. 285gr pushed by 70grs of pyrodex p

did my first time shooting tc maxihunters 350gr with 85gr pyrodex p. I need to lower the charge, recoil was too bad for me (I have a recoil pad), and I think I can get them to group better

I had a great day, and a lot of fun

links are not working

recoil pad sucks i take it? Buy a limbsaver and you'll be upping your charge! It makes a hell of a difference.

I switched back to using a steel buttplate

this first target is very good. You have some real possibilities with that. And what load was used to shoot that? I will try the same load in my Wolverine LK-II and see what kind of results I get.

this second target, while not bad, looks like you need some powder adjustment...

Default RE: range report (conical w/sabot test)

all showen where at 50 yrds, the 100 yrd fall out of my truck when I stopped to get something to eat.

I need to shot more at 100 yrds, if I keep going at 50yrds I am going start putting them thru the same hole (done it once already)

most of the shots I missed (centerfire) where at 50yrds or less. so I work more at 50 yrds then 100 yrds to began with, plus I get lazy

one more thing, the last 2 targets where ignited with #11 instead of musket which is what I use all the time.

I am going to try the great plains w/sabot again down the road. did better then I thought it was
