Don't get stuck on the pellets or Powerbelts. Buy some loose Pyrodex RS or 777 powder, a powder measure. Start with 80gr and start shooting. Also try different bullets. I use both pellets and loose. Pellets while I'm hunting for convienece and loose for recreational shooting. Buy some Hornaday XTPs, Barnes bullets, I've heard guys on here talk about Noslers, thereis Sabertooths, Shockwaves, and so many others.Just play with different loads and bullets and have fun. I was new toothis time last year but I've learned alot from these guys. They will chime in on this too.....

Also, wouldn't hurt to just scan through all of the threads in this muzzleloader section. Everytime you see something about loads, bullets, sabots, or range testingin the subject line, read it. That also helped me quite a bit. Good Luck

Powerbelts tend to not do well when pushed too hard. Stick to 100 grains of powder (2 pellets) or less. There are other bullets out there that can do better than Powerbelts, but try them with 2 pellets and see how it shoots. After those are shot up, I'd recommend going to loose powder since it's cheaper and gives you more flexibility in your loads. Others with more experience will likely chime in, too. Good luck!

Grams? No, please use theunits "grains". There is considerable difference. But the advice above is very good.

and welcome to muzzleloading.
