The Omega is a time tested rifle. It was one of the leading rifles for years and caused a lot of copy cat type rifles to be introduced into the market by other companies. The Omega still is a great rifle even with the introduction of the Triumph. While the Triumph was developed to solve all the short comings of the Omega such as the small trigger guard, and the new 45º twist and turn breech plug, I do not think it would make any difference on the shooting range.

As for what kind of range you can expect.. what kind of optics are you going to use, what kind of load do you shoot, and how good a shooter are you? Also are you willing to put in the practice time on the range at long distances to learn the rifle. 200 yards is not out of the question. 150 yards with good scopes are more believable.

I have a stainless synthetic stock Omega. One of the first ones made. I do like the rifle and have taken elk with it. I just bought a Knight KRB stainless Rolling Block (notice I sort of like stainless mostly just for the looks as I know the stainless will rust if not taken care of). I think I like the design of the rolling block a little better than the Omega. Here are the comparisons. The Omega cost more, the trigger group is more difficult to get out to clean than the Knight, The breechplug on the Knight seems to control blowback better than the Omega. The Omega tends to crud badly with Tripple Seven and reports are that the Rolling block does not do so (have not shot mine enough to say yet). The Omega has the QLA barrel muzzle which seems to not work well with conicals whereas the Knight has a Green Mountain barrel without the QLA and handles conicals very well. The Knight KRB stock is much more solid than the Omega. My Omega has started drifting POI and I believe it is a result of the stock being a little wimpy and the front barrel lug mounting screw boss has decided to loosen and cannot be tightened as the screw is bottomed out. I have not determined how I am going to fix that yet. The actual barrel length of the Knight is a full 27 inches. The Omega is a little shorter and with the QLA it is actually about 26 inches. The Knight with scope weighs just over 9 pounds (about 9 1/4) the Omega weighs just under 9. The Knight is overall about 3/4 inches longer than the Omega. The Omega does not have a positive spent primer remover although not a big problem, the Knight does have a primer carrier built in that positively removes the spent primer if it should tend to stick (no special tool needed). Either rifle will shoot accurately out to 150 yards or so if you do your job and pick the right combinations to shoot. The Omega is a little tighter bore and a little more difficult to find bullet/sabot combinations that work well. Both rifles work better with scopes and the Knight is even somewhat difficult for me to see the iron sights without really pressing down on the stock. I mount scopes so that is not a problem but if you do not you might want to handle one first before buying. Hope this helps. I know it sounds like the Knight might be the better choice and I am starting to feel that way. I have both so that does not affect my decision.

ken the kid, like Cayquad said the Omega is a time tested rifle mine does very well, but be carful to tighten the barrel to stock screws between 25 and 28 inch pounds over tightening will cause problems. Now if you want the best get a Triumph they are the improved version of the Omega, they seal up and NO blow back comes through its a 3 or 4 minite job to clean them. I like my new Triumph better than any other inline for the way it shoots aand how easy it is to take care of. And while some people seem to have trouble shooting conicals I most certainly dont, while they dont seem to want to hold an inch group I dont have any trouble holding a 2 inch group but I really dont see why any one would shoot some thing with a rainbow trajectory unless they had to. Advertised to stop 95% of blowback. That other 5% still builds up over time.

The knight rolling block and the triump i both looked at and handled and the knight had better balance. You should handle these rifles first to make sure they fit you. I have a hard time with todays inlines in finding one that fits me correctly.

As much as I might want a KRB... at a full 8lbs - If I am going to carry an 8# rifle around it would be my White - think I will stick with the lighter7# Omega...

The reason I bought an omega is because it has been around for awhile and many seem to like it. The triumph is a nice gun as well and that was what the salesmen recommended at the time I bought the omega. But I just seemed to like the omega better but will probably buy a Triumph in the future.

As far as load combos the shock wave/ Hornady SST 250 g seem to work well. Plus the Hornady 240 HP XPT works in mine so. All with Pryrodex or 777 pellets.

Just tried the Barnes Spit Fire 245 g and they are pretty good they are just pricey and I need to shoot a few more of them yet.

You won"™t go wrong getting the Omega but shop around and read reviews and that will help you.

One thing to consider between an Omega and a Triumph is the handling the Omega has a stock designed for using iron sights and the Triump has a stock designed for use with a scope. There is considerable differance in the comb hight of the cheek rest. Lee
