Default 7 pt'er down in NE Indiana.....

Here is a pic of the 7 pointer I took with my Omega yesterday for firearms season. I called him in with a grunt call and a bleater can. He went straight for my scent tab!!! Dropped him like a ton of bricks. The shot was a little low but he still only made a couple leaps and fell. I gotta keep in mind I'm sighted in for 100 yards. He was about 40 out when I shot him.... He also started to turn away from me so I made a mouth doe call and he stopped and turned. Notice the slightly low shoulder shot. Gotta watch out for that! All in all it turned out good though!

He is a 6pt with a small drop tine in his right front side. It's hard to see in the picture.

That really is a great buck. Nice working of the calls. That is an art in itself. I have tried for years to get deer to respond to calls. Decoys on the other hand seem to work for me. Also I have one old buck grunt tube that they used to respond to, and for the life of me can not find in among all my junk.

Those Omega's are shooters. And it looks like you put it right where it had to be. Congratulations.

Thanks,

I was using a 250gr SG Shockwave with 2 - 50gr 777 pellets. This is also the first year I've tried the calls. I downloaded the different calls for the grunt tube to practice. I'm just now learning how to use it. As for the bleat can, I do 2 real short "sqeaks" then on long regular bleat. Than I do 2 soft grunts with the tube grunt. Believe me i'm no pro at it. 2 weeks ago I had never even held one...lol..... I must a got lucky and did it right. That's the 2nd buck that has came to the call. Temps dropped to the 30's here last night. I gotta go finish butchering the buck here in a few little bit. Good luck out there and thanks for the compliments!
