After buying my CVA Wolf last year and spending time getting it dialed in with the right load/ bullet combination, it all fell into place this morning. Got in stand about 5:50 am and had intentions on taking a doe to get some meat in the freezer. Becomes light enough to shoot at about 6:30, and after about an hour and a half of nothing at all, 2 does come walking in from the left. I raise the gun and decide not to shoot. After watching them wander around the area for about 5 minutes, the lead doe and also the bigger of the 2, offers me a 15 yard broadside shot and I took it. Kinda small, but it should be some good tender meat.

Those size deer have to be some of the best eating meat there is. Their butterfly chops and steaks are fork tender and the roasts are just crock pot size to die for.. Congratulations. That is a good eater there.

She ran about 80 yards after the shot. A small spot of blood at the spot where i shot her, then nothing for about 15-20 feet then a bloodtrail i was able to follow on a steady walk with no trouble. After field dressing, I found that the bullet hit the nearside lung and clipped the edge of the heart.
