Default Grandfield OK Hog

Got a hog this evening:

Gun: . 50 Encore
Powder: 120 grs JSG
Bullet: 250 grain SSt in Hornady Low Drag sabot
Primer: Winchester 209 shotgun

This hog was hit in the right shoulder from a distance of about 40-50 yards. The bullet went a little highThe hog fell, kicked around for a couple of minutes and expired. Bulletdamagedone lung. The heart may have been hit by bullet fragments because there was a lot of blood in the body cavity. Bullet did not exit.

This hog is an immature male that has a lot of Russian boar blood. He also has somedomestic hog blood. Weight on the hoof is 150-170 pounds. This hog is fat as a butterball.

That's a great hog!! Congratulations. When's dinner?

What do you guess is the weight of that pig? I used to be pretty good at guessing domestic hogs, but they are normally a lot chunkier then the wild ones I have seen. But that looks like a good sized pig you got there.

iam not really good at guessing hog weight. Sometimes we do weigh them but my neighbor who has the good scales was gone last night. i would say that he weighed about 150 or a little better on the hoof. This hog was young, his tusks had not even started to grow.

So many hogs use the thicketsat that place that you can smell them when they are nowhere near.

Just got a call from my hog hunting partner. The butcher said the hog weighed 130 pounds. That would put him at about 170 pounds on the hoof.

Souieeeeeeeeeet! Soaked in salt water, turned over an open fire. Dip bread against that hot juice oozing out. Man, that's good Fall food. Congrats!
