The past two years I've been using the Remington Kleenbore primers designed for muzzleloaders. Going to give the 777 primers a try this fall.

Supposedly the "hotter" primers, like Winchester and CCI, blow the charge forward prior to ignition and it contributes to the formation of the dreaded crud ring. I don't know because I haven't used anything but the Remington muzzleloader primers and I don't have problems with crud ring development (but I swab after ever shot anyway).

bigpappa,...Dude,you got an Omega, and you're gonna love it.Got two myself, well my wife has one and I got one.I just get two clean two.IMO,go straight to the vari-flame at least, or the 25acp at best, using cci 400 small rifle primers in either and cease fretting yourself with which primer to use.Search this channel for the two and I think you'll be convinced that this is the way to go.I did the same as you for a long time and lots of money.Trying to figure the best combo of sabots, bullets, weight of said bullets, charge and then PRIMERS.Must have tried at least 1-2 million combos, haha.I went to the 25 acp and EVERYTHING FELL INTO PLACE.You WILL see a difference in this ignition system comparred to 209s.My guns love me now and I'm pretty fond of them.Good shooting and be safe...hunt4me

I've tried about all the primers there is,and found: 1 my accuracy dosen't change no matter what one I use,and 2 They all leave the crud ring using T7 powder. I'm thinking about using the small rifle primerconversion, for T7 in my Pro Hunter. Now after saying that,I should mention my White 504 White Tail NEVER has a crud ring using T7 powder. It also uses a #11 precussion cap for ignition,so that telling me all the shotgun primers( no matter who makes them) are too hot. My Grey Hawk side hammer also uses T7 and the #11 cap. No problems there either. Ron
