Default foaming bore cleaners

When I was starting out with getting my cleaning stuff for my ML, I looked at the cva foaming bore cleaner, I put it back down and went with something else. Went back and looked at it the other day, read the back, let it set for MINIMUM OF 1 HOUR. I know I am still new to ml but it only takes me 20 to 30 mins to clean (depends on what I am doing while cleaning). I did not see where it tells to set the gun while the foam works. I guess if your doing more then 2 guns it would be good, spray one gun with it let set clean the other.

thats my thought on this. I like hear yalls

With muzzleloaders, it's too easy to clean them the 'regular' way to waste time using foaming bore cleaner. With centerfires, the smaller bores in riflesor tapered bores in shotguns don't allow the use of jags with the same ease of use as with a ML in my opinion. So, foaming bore cleaner can be a fair convenience with them. They usually only take 1/2 hr setting time and a few patches to clean.

I picked up some last year i think. It was the break free foaming bore cleaner that only has to sit for 10-15 minutes. I really kind of liked it. I don't know if I would spend the 10 bucks again but I don't regret using it. Good luck. Greg

Seen a few good barrels turned into 'mater stakeswhen cleaned with everyone's "regular way", if I"m interpretating your meaning.

It's a slow process in most cases, but the end result isjunk accuracy.

A Pard of mine talked T/C into a warranty replacement, but most folks tho', ain't that lucky.

I make mine on the cheap....rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and murphy's oil soap.

Purpose isn't expressly to "foam" anything....it just does.

Here's the ratio plus mixing instructions in case some are wondering............

2 parts 70% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
2 parts 3% Hydrogen Peroxide Solution
1 part Murphy's Oil Soap

Pour ingredients together but do not shake the container. I get a good mix by gently pouring the mix back and fourth between two containers. The soap will foam up and create a mess if shaken.
Store the mix is a darkened plastic bottle if you want a good shelf life...you can ued an old brown plastic peroxide bottle.
It seems to have a pretty good shelf life if stored in a dark container, but I shoot a lot so it gets used up.

You can save the used stuff and reuse it again...but why, the ingredients are dirt cheap.

Near as I can figure Remington sells this same or similar stuff at a gross mark up and calls it Vortex Bore Cleaner.......
