It never ceases to amaze me... well he did learn that the rifle with an obstructed bore will blow up. If that's any conciliation to him as he pays off his credit card...

I have read this thing 3 maybe 4 times and still can't get over the $1200 for a rifle. I know there are fo.. people out there that will pay that. More money then since or single. I get in trouble with the wife for buying a $12 pack of ML bullet/sabot combo.

After the re-barrel job, that is going to be one expensive rifle. Time for one of those custom Shilen barrels. If it wasn't a tack driver to begin with, it probably will be after it is re-barreled.

Man the guy is lucky he wasn't seriously injured or even killed!!! Man that is scary!!!

It may end up a tack driver but it already shoots like a laser, or is that shot a laser.

That one's been around for a while. I've seen it a few times in the last year or so. Hard to believe that much damage can be caused by just the bore sight device inserted into the barrel.I'venever seen a rifle barrel bannanapeel like that. I've seen a few shot gun barrels that had some bulging and maybe a strand or two peel back an inch or sobut never a full bannana peel of what appears to be over a foot of barrel. I doubta quality barrel, that would hopefully be on a$1200rifle, would fail to that extent.

I've seen several either in person or in pictures and yes any barrel can do that if obstructed. Even the Savage smokeless MLer that was tested to something like 140,000psi split the barrel from the middle to the breach. From the pictures it looked like the bullet was not against the powder when fired so that constitutes an obstruction. It doesn't matter what quality the barrel is, it can happen.
