My Zouave has a 3-leaf military sight. Inside the top of the sight base is a disk-looking feature with two holes that seems to be for a two-pronged tool. What is this???
A windage adjustment?? (Doesn't seem likely because I don't see how the sight could move much if at all.)
A mounting screw?? A lock down screw?? (The rear of the sight is dovetailed into the barrel with a small dovetail - 1/4" or so.)

Looks to me to be the base screw - holding the sight to the gun barrel... even with the dove tail... to keep it from getting bumped left and right.... ALTHOUGH - the arrow showing direction sure might indicate a wingage adjustment of some sort...

it looks like the same style of screw they use on a crossbolts on the sks, are you wanting to remove the sight? . maybe the sks crossbolt tool may work to remove or adjust if it is the same size. The crossbolt on my sks is half an inch

I was wondering if that is how you adjust the windage, but I could not be sure...

Heck wabi, I want to take it out but don't have a tool that will do the job. Tried grinding the tips of two nails flat and placing them in parallel position in some vise-grip pliers, but couldn't get enough torque before the nails slipped or bent. The holes are about 1/4" apart.
I thought that was an arrow too sabotloader, but after checking it under a strong lighted magnifying glass I found it was only a tool scratch mark.Probably somebody slipped with the "proper" tool, or tried a home made rig like I did. The more I look at it the more convinced I am that you're right about it being a simple (or not so simple) base screw locking thesight to the barrel.
Anyway, I've been thinking about how to modify the sight to suit my needs and think I have an idea that will work, and will still allow it to be restored to original configuration. If it works out I'll post pictures.

Dixie Gun Works lists a repro Zouave rear sight screw for $3.50, unfortunately they don't show a picture of it. You might try contacting them and see if they will describe it to you to verify if thats what you have.
