Chap, I can't see the pictures, can you?
Yes, I clicked on the link he placed in his first post. That opens up a new browser window and shows his son and him with the doe. Chap

That is a great story Tyler and a great hunt. As for missing a buck, well that's nothing. Next year when you get a chance at that same buck he will be even bigger and better. Besides, a doe is better eating anyway. You can boil a bucks horns for hours and the soup is still worthless..

I want to congratulate you on a heck of a shot. That load you are shooting is a great load and without question works as you well proved. You can take pride in your hunt as you acted in true sportsman ship fashon. Also, way to go Dad...

Hi, my name is Tyler and my dad wanted me to tell you about our hunt. Me and dad got in our stand way before daylight and waited for the sun to come up. We saw a button buck real early but we don't shoot them. A nice buck came into the path and dad told me to hold it right on him and squeeze the trigger. I did but when the smoke went away, dad said that I missed but I knew I had it on him. My was so upset, I felt like crying. We went to the club house and dad and uncle Ellis shot my gun. It was way off and the scope was loose. Dad took everything apart and put the scope back on but this time, he put that stuff on the screws so that they would not come back out. Dad went in his box and got me some of his nosler bullets and sabots that he ordered. They got it shooting real good and dad gave me a box of bullets and a bag of sabots to keep in my box. Dad was really upset for not making sure that my gun was shooting as good as his but that's okay. I didn't get that buck because it wasn't God's will. Maybe I'll get him when he's even bigger. We went to a different place that afternoon. We climbed up a 2 man ladder stand and hooked our safety harnesses to the tree. Then we always pray for a safe and sucessful hunt. About an hour later a huge doe came into the path and dad hit her with the range finder and told me that she was about 90 yards and to hold it right on her shoulder. I shot and when the smoke cleared, she was gone. I asked dad what happened because I didn't see her run. Dad told me to look back down there with the scope and I did. She was laying right beside the path. I was so happy! I had to calm down before dad would let me climb down. When we got to her, she was huge. I was so happy. I hit her right in the shoulder. We gave thanks to God and went to get help getting her to the truck. My dad killed one saturday morning at 180 yards and she just dropped right there. I watched the whole thing through my binoculars and it was so cool. I love my dad. He is a good man and I'm very blessed to have a father like him. I'm shooting a CVA Wolf that I got for Christmas last year. I'm now shooting the same load as dads but less powder. I'm shooting Nosler 260 grain HPs, MMP 24 sabots, winchester primers and 80 grain of T-7 pellets, one 50 grain and one 30 grain. I want a bushnell firefly scope for Christmas and a range finder. I'm 10 years old and this is the 8th deer I've killed but my first with my muzzle loader. Thanks for listening to the long story. Dads going to fix some mistakes and sent this to you.

God Bless and happy hunting,

Tyler
Huge Amen. Great shot, with asighted in rifle. Good choice for a scope for Christmas, I have several Bushness Firefly 32003x9x40 on several MLers. Chap Gleason

Congratulations Tyler!!!!!!!
Now wait until a huge buck walks out and remind old dad it's your turn to shoot since he caused you to miss the last one.

Tyler, congratulations on your first muzzle loader deer. Great job on the story. My son killed his first deer while he was with mein a two man stand. I will nexer forget that day!! I can guanantee that your dad is treasuring all of these memories you make together. Don't give up on that buck yet. During the heat of the rut, bucks will sometimes do some stupid stuff. You may get another shot at him this year!! If you do, we want to hear all about it.Happy hunting.
