Default New Load For The Encore

Tried the Hornady low drag sabots in my Encore today. They are loaded with the 250 grain SST bullet. These sabots load very easily compared to theones i have been shooting.

Previously i have used 90 grains of JSGand the 250 grain SSTin a very tight fitting sabot. Today i boostedthe chargeto 110 grains. The first bullet hit to exact point of aim,at the bottom of the bull at 6 o'clock. Range is 100 yards.

Raised the elevation three inches and shot a 1.25 inch, 3 shot groupfrom a dirty bore.Cleaned thebore with Windex with vinegar and shot another three shot group. This one came in just under one inch centered three inches above point of aim. Stopped shooting and came home. Good enough for me.

Let's see, averaging under 1.25" at 100 yards with open sights. Hmmm, I guess that will do.

Sounds like a good load to me.

Not with open sights. It has a 4X Simmons blackpowder scope. That scope has been beat around on a couple of other guns, it went on the Encore as atemporary measure.ibought aLeupold to replace it. But i ain't messing with success. That scope will stay where it until it goes bad.

Even with a scope I wouldn't complain about that kind of grouping. Good luck with it.
