hey guys maybe you can help me out. i have a lyman deerstalker 54 cal what would be the best setup for this gun?

I'd start with a .530 ball, .015 lubed patch and 80grs FFF Goex...Go up or down in 5gr increments, I wouldn't go over 100grs...Good Luck...

nchawkeye gave the same advise I would have given. A .530 or .535 roundball with a .015 patch and about 80-100 grains of 2f powder. That .54 will knock down about anything you like to hunt.

Is it a perc. cap or flinter? Either way, If perc. I would start with 80 gr of Triple 7 and if a flinter, 80 gr of FFg under a patched ball.
If memory serves me the Deerstalker has a 1:48 twist. This should be an excellent starting point.
