Default Clearance Question

I need to mount a Nikon Omega scope on an CVA Optima Elite and I need to know which ring height I would need to ensure adequate clearance between the hammer and scope. I'm thinking medium but I'm not sure. Anyone owning an Optima that could help would be much appreciated.

With a 40 mm objective you would probably be comfortable with medium height rings. Sometimes it might be nessary to remove the rear sight for clearence, but not always nessary or desired. If clearence is an issue you may need to go to high rings. It's mostly how you like your scope mounted.

I use low rings with my 40mm scopes when possible (which is most of the time). I like my scope mounted as low as possible.

Mount your scope as low as possible and as far back (towards you) as possible while maintaining your proper eye relief. Remember that the Omega with the BDC was sighted in and designed with a specific load of Three (3) 50 grain pellets and a 240gr TCSW bullet. Ideally, when you shoulder your weapon, it should be there without alot of head movement to get your sight picture thru the scope. Good Luck

I have the regular Optima and had to go with the medium height rings. I have a nikon prostaff 3x9x40. It also required the rear sight be removed. Have fun with the Elite.....hopefully its my next purchase!

I shoot the optima elite w/the omega scope and use t/c med quck detatch rings. It's still pretty low and had to remove rear sight.

Purchased some QD medium height rings. Thanks to everyone for your help, I just didn't want to have to make two purchases. Good luck & good hunting.
