I do not own an Omega. BUT I have read countless reports on them. Are they a good rifle? I have seen too many range reports and recommendations to say anything else but yes. I will say that the Omega Z is the low end of the line. They do not have as good a stocks as the others, and I think the sights are different as well. While they are great rifles, I am going to go out on a limb here... I personally would not get the Omega Z5. Not that I have anything against them, but let me explain before the current Z owners go crazy...
The new Triumph is more money, but sometimes you have to pay for what you get. Before I would purchase an Omega, it would have to be something other then their Omega Z model. I would save up a little more and look at the better top of the line Omega's, the Truimph instead of the Omega, the new Knight Rolling block, or a Savage ML10.
I have been considering another rifle for a few weeks.. I even passed on a great traditional rifle deal and am glad to see it was sold as it was driving me crazy. But the next rifle I get will be either a; Triumph, Knight Rolling Block, or a Savage ML10. And strange as this might sound, I am leaning towards the Savage ML10 with the rolling block a close second. I want to talk to a few more people, and some in particular who's opinions I really value, then when I find one on sale I will pounce.

Cayugad - and the reason you didn't share this with one of us would be ?????

....and what's this about? Is the quest for accuracy all that remains? Perhaps you need to spend a day on your range with a center fire. A good sobriety check.
I should mention that there are no numbers or letters on my Omega. It is a great rifle and shoots fine.
Now I must say, if I were a young fella and just starting out hunting, I would probably get a TC Encore. It is know for it's accuracy and reliability. A special bonus is it's ability to be an anything firearm. From shotgun to centerfire rifle to rimfire tomuzzle loader.

yeoman it was a sweet deal.. a Thompson Center New Englander with a .50 caliber new barrel and a 12 gauge barrel for $300.00 shipped. I was debating whether I should purchase it or not when an offer was accepted. On one had I was happy and the other hand I was not. I do not need the rifle having just purchased a .54 caliber NE but.. good deals are good deals.
The reason I have played with the idea of a Savage ML-10 is I love to shoot. It would be the one thing that I could then compare against some of the black powder shooters I use. Also it would be fun to see how accurate it would be. But I have not made the purchase yet and might not. I am kind of gun fill right now. I would have to build another gun rack having just filled the lastone.

I have an Omega. Mine is a Stainless camo synthetic stock. It shoots just fine most of the time. There are a few issues with the plastic stock causing some variation in POI from time to time. Some do not like the sound of the stock if bumped as it sounds hollow. The Z-5 has the trigger group a little less capable of easy cleaning as it is pinned together or so I have been told. The 209 primers usually come out easy after shooting but if they don't you have to pry them out. The new Knight Rolling Block has a retractor for the spent primer which I think is a definate improvement. The Knight will shoot conicals and the Omega may not. Mine does not do such a good job with any conicals other than Powerbelts. If you want to shoot heavy conicals go for the Rolling Block. Not a lot of money more. I just ordered a stainless one with shipping for $302.00. Blue can be had for less.

That was a deal! Because they do appreciate, guns are an investment. Perhaps not the best investment.

Well, that's it. You need to draw a line at "3 racks full". From here on out, you acquire a new one only when a current one has been sold. I'm guessing, though it will be hard, you're going to give up a Bobcat. ???
