That is a real nice group. It should do the job for sure. Good luck this coming season.

Nice shooting. I will be using 90 RS to hunt with this year also. You may want to try the Barnes Expander. They're supposed to open up at lower velocities than the Red Hots. With 90 RS and the 250 bullet we're talking 1700 muzzle to 1500 at 100 yds. Not exactly hauling arse. I'm actually leaning toward a lead tipped jacketed HP for a hunting round, with 6 weeks to decide.

yeoman, I believe the 250gr Barnes Expander MZ and the Knight Red Hot I'm using are the same bullet. Both made by Barnes, packaged for Knight as the Red Hot.

Quote:
Why do Expander MZ and Knight Red Hot Bullets have different shapes?
The larger hollow point on our .50 caliber 250 grain MZ bullet has an advantage during low-velocity expansion. However, the smaller hollowpoint on the .50 caliber 220 grain Knight Red Hot has a better BC because of the bullet"™s streamlined design. This contributes to better retained velocity downrange
sjsfire - from the Barnes website Q&A.........................

I must be missing something here.......The picture in my post above is the Barnes Expander MZ 250gr off cabelas web site. Here's a picture of the Knight Red Hot 250 gr I bought from MidSouth. Looks like Twinkies to me?

Reread your quote, they are refering to the 250gn MZ and the 220gn Redhot... they are different. The 250gn MZ and the 250gn Redhot are the same... so is the 300gn MZ and Redhot... always have been.
