Default newbe needs help with bullets?

I got bunch of my muzzleloader gear on layaway which i have power belt 295gr hp with it.
I was going test t/c sure fire 250 gr hp, mag exp. (can't remember the grs on it), or shockwave.
I found some hornady I think it was great plains, I think that was this name, at 15% off, I keep skipping over them because they where in 45 cal and lubed.
If I got some sabot whould the hornady work?

It may work but I think the GP's are around .458 or .460 or something like that. If that is the case you would need to get the sabots for that size bullet, not the ones for .451/.452 bullets. Let us know if you give it a try.

I thought that was the diameter range of that bullet, thanks for the confirmation FG.

Here is a link to MMP, they have a sabot for a .458 bullet that will probably work. May be a bit tight depending on your barrel. It is the orange one near the bottom of the page.

Another option would be to resize them to .452 if you have, or know someone who has a bullet sizer.

I would not recommend the GP bullets in a sabot. They have graduaded driving bands with the smallest diameter at the base of the bullet and a larger diameter band at the nose.

Just does not seem like a suitable set-up.

I hadn't thought about that, good point. Maybe if they were resized to .452 it would work better. I would probably remove the lube if I were going use them in a sabot also.

Resizing would do the job. I wouldn't worry about the lube.

I was just thinking about them because they where on sale. Plus I don't know anyone that knows how to resize bullets. Any way, it was only are round $2 off, I can take the money and buy flowers for my wife so for a little while get off my case about how much money i am spending this season.
