Default Maximum load Triple 7

Last year I shot three 50 grain Triple 7 pellets on top of 250 grain T/C shockwaves and 245 grain Powerbelts - with good accuracy (<2").

My wife bought me some granular Triple 7 for Xmas and I finally tried it today. I called CVA tech services and they said the max load was 110 grains of T7 granular.

I shot 110 grains of T7 granular and accuracy went way down. My shoulder also tells me this load is too hot. It was a hot day too...

What are you guys using for a max load a T7 granular in a magnum muzzleloader?

Well it sounds like the CVA Techs told you the max of the rifle. That is not to mean that is what you should shoot. Try 90 grains of loose Triple Se7en and see if that does not work better. When I start a rifle with loose powder I normally start at 80 grains of inlines and 70 grains for traditional rifles. Then work the load up from there in 10 grain amounts until I get the accuracy I want...

Limbsaver recoil pad is worth every penny. I shoot 80 grains triple7 with a 385 and 348 grain conical and it feels like im shooting a 178 grain, patched round ball with 90 grains of powder.

I shoot 90 to 100 grains of 777 2F under the 250SW with good results, <2" at 100 yards. In one of the guns I shoot that bullet in there is only about 200fps difference between the 100gr loose 777 load and 130gr of pellets. That difference only shortens the 6" point blank range from 194 to 176 yards. Since most shots are 150 or less you will not notice the difference.

I will be shooting 80 grains of 777 at elk ina couple of weeks and a T/C maxiball. Best accuracy I have found with powerbelts has been in the 90-95 grain range. Never shot a sabot.

Dittos on the limbsaver recoil pad. Great product

I agree with the 90-100g range of 777 loose. Depending on the weather, I really don't see accracy difference. My Optima likes 100g of 22F with 300g xtp or 300g sockwave.

I do like cayugad-I stay away from so-called MAX loads. I work up from a minimum of 70-100 grain (depending on bore size-100 is for a .73 caliber)loads when developing a load with a new/different bullet. I quit working up when I get the best accuracy.

Remember, the Civil war Springfield used a 60-grain load with a 535-grain Minie ball. This load was considered stout enough to killhorses at 300 yards..... With a big old soft lead ML bullet, speed is not a requirement.
