Default range report... T-7 & the NewEnglander

Well, I couldn't give up after one bad outing with the NewEnglander & T-7.
First time I tried it results were miserable. Then I got to thinking that perhaps I'd try some of the Knight bullets I have (Knight 260 grain lead bullet in black sabot).
Took some time off to go to the range this eveningand started with a milder charge of powder - 70grains of ffg T-7. Using CCI #11 mag caps and the first shot was a hang-fire and I wasn't sure I'd made a decent shot, but when I checked the target the bullet was right in the 1" square of tape I was shooting at. Next 4 shots went a little higher (about 2") but it was what I consider decent for sabots in a 1:48 twist - under 2".
Then I tried the 320 grain Lee R.E.A.L. conicals. No wad under them, but a 3 shot group was all touching the 1" square.
Only real differance this trip was reducing the charge a little, and swabbing between each shot.
Looks like I'll be doing some more shooting with T-7 in the NewEnglander to see if I can repeat the performance.

[]oops, forgot to mention all shooting was at 50 yards today.

It sounds like you have a good shooting rifle there. And something as simple as swabbing then made all the difference? I guess after this weekend is over and I find some time, I will have to break mine out on the range too..

Hey wabi, thanks for that report on the 320 REAL's. I ordered some from Black Jack Hill back in June and they arrived today. BJH was slow, but did a real nice casting job on these bullets. Can't wait to try them in my New Englander and Mustang. If my results are as good as yours I'll be ordering a mould.
