Default RE: Parker Ballistic Extreme and Harvester PT Gold

I shot both of these bullets out of my Savage 10ML today, very nice weather, low 80s, low humidity, slight wind, maybe 5 mph, 100 yards (really 92.5 with a range finder but who cares abougt 7 yards). Shot 5 shot groups with my standard load of 44g of Accurate Arms 5744,
Federal primer used the default sabot that came with the bullet packaging.

Here is the results of the Harvester PT Gold 300g, it comes with a crushed rib sabot, the sabots looked great, but they went down the barrel too easy. I thought they would fall out. The accuracy was not there with the supplied Crushed rib sabot--I will try a thicker MMP 12:

I then shot Parker Ballistic Extreme, Toby Bridges wrote about them on his site, www.hpmuzzloading.com. I bought the Traditions brand of the Ballistic Extreme since they are cheaper and that is what MidSouth carried, Remington also sells them, saw those at Gander Mountain about 3 weeks ago. Here is the results, very tight group, all were within an inch up to shot 5 then that went a little right.

My conclusion is the Parker 275g and the TC SW 300gis what I am going to try at 200 yards now, since they both give excellent accuracy at 100.

I am going to trya BarnesTMZ at 100 again using the "kurling method" discussed over on Doug's Savage Forum, the Kurling method uses two files to rough the outter coat of the bullet so it goes to .452 in diameter from the .450 that the bullets are sized. This gives them tighter fit in most Savages and improves the accuracy.

I am going to try the Harvester PT Gold with an MMP 12 Sabot at 100 yards.
Chap
