I ordered a GM 58cal barrel for my Renegade last night! I am really excited. I also got some dry wads, .570 Hornady roundballs, jag, brush, and mop for it. I got everything I need to shoot it. They had it on backorder so it could be a while before I get it. This is what I am going to take elk hunting.

Very cool. Did you order it over the Internet from GM? I see they had some sales on for Percussion. Was your percussion or FL? I love the looks of the renegade. I have a Hawken 50 cal, and just feel that it is too British looking with all the brass, not "American Frontier Looking". I am looking for a Renegade stock and want to buy a 1:28 GM barrel for the stock. I gotta watch ebay closer. Chap Gleason

I have the same barrel and they are without a doubt a good shooter. 110 grains of Goex 2f and a patched roundball and you're in elk hunting business. Congratulations.

After all the times talking to Cayugad about his I had to get one. I got it from Track of The Wolf. It is a percussion. The reason I wanted a 58cal is because it is different. It is not the standard 50cal everyone shoots or even the 54cal. I wanted to be a little different. I am going to love elk hunting with ti!

What bullet are you going to shoot in the .58? Chap

I ordered some .570 Hornady Roundballs to shoot through it. That is all I really want to shoot. It is a 1-70" twist so I do not think it will shoot conicals very well. I might try some Buffalo Ball-etts to. Other than that I plan to shoot roundball most of the time.

Very cool, you got the right size gun for elk with RB. Does the barrel come with sights or are you going with some fine peep or something.

It comes with just iron sights I think. I will probably keep them on. Who knows when I will get it. It could be as late as July since it was on backorder.

Some of the new ones actually come with Tru Glo fiber optics, although my rifle has standard iron sights and they work just fine.
