I once installed see thru mounts and while they didnt mess up grouping, they sucked. Very uncomfortable and makes you stretch your neck. I use low scope mounts now with a 3-9x32mm scope. Make sure you can get by with the lows.

What you will find with see through mounts is you normally do not use them once they are on. At least that has been my experience. Also with the scope mounted higher up, you do not get good address of the rifle stock to the body which CAN effect your accuracy. You start to rubber neck the rifle, and we all know accuracy comes from doing every thing the same way time and time again, not changing how you hold the rifle from time to time.

If you are going to go with a scope then get as low a mount as possible. If you want open sights, then get a good set. Perhaps a peep sight. I do not know the kind of shots you will encounter, but in my case I found a 2-7 scope is the answer. With muzzleloaders, we seldom should take a high risk shot, such as a running shot, but the need to place our one shot is very important. So with my 2-7 scope, when stalking, I have it on 2-4X and that way things up close are easy to get the scope on to. You have the cross hair to help assure that you are placing your shot. Should you encounter a longer distance shot, you can increase the power and still make the shot.

Just my two cents.

Well since you bought em use em. I use the see thrus and I can tell you I have shot deer at 5 yds and 70 yards. 5 yds with fiber sights using the see thrus and 70 using the scope. You need to shoot a lot to get used to the extra height but its worth it. If you don't shoot them enough you might have trouble. Don't let others tell you how to shoot, it's your gun so set it up how you like. I have my gun shooting fiber optic open sights right on with my scope out to 50 yards and my scope out to 150 yards since its hard to see the target that far with open sights. The main thing is to spend time to set up your rig.

I've got look through mounts on my ML and have always used them. There are times that I'm hunting in thick cover or walking in to my stand that the scope would be useless so I rely on my irons. Once in the stand I will use the scope (or if I'm set up on a field). I guess it's what you get used to.

I had see-through mounts on a cartridge rifle and never could use them. I considered them a waste of time and money. I just bought a White 97 and it has a scope mounted with see-through mounts and they seem to work just fine. I have not hunted with it as yet but the scope does not seem too high as it did on my cartridge rifle. As stated you just have to make your own decision. I do not think the mounts should really affect accuracy as they are pretty solid.
