That's some nice felt. A person I know bought some of that and gave me a very small sample to play with.

You can also cut insoles for your hunting boots with it,if you have room in the shoe and it will keep your feet warmer in the winter.

E-Bay has lots of Arch punches designed to cut soft materials ie:leather/gaskets etc..........9/16 =14mm for .54 cal .1/2 =12mm for .50 cal and for patch cutting 1 1/4" for .54 ball not sure about .50 size or .45cal just measure a cut patch and go with that.Hardware stores and tool places can get them for you as well.A rubber mallet is needed so you don't peen the punch.Have fun...................Harold

I'n not an expert on this but when you are refering to density you mean thickness? The commercial felt wads for a 12 ga. are both 1/8" and 1/4" thickness.A 11/16" or 17mm punch should be the correct size for making your own.A12ga should be about .72 cal.Track of The Wolf and The Possible shop both carry 12ga. felt wads or one ofthe readers here may have some they can mike for you to make sure you get the correct punch.Felt expands when it's in the barrel for a tight fit even when pushed through a full choke.Hope this helps somewhat........Harold
