Lee Improved Minnie / Lee Modern Minnie ?
Has anyone out there used either of these bullets, or have a mold for them? I did a search on both terms and came up with zip. Thinking about buying amold for one or the other, but would sure like to try a few bullets first.

I have the molds for them. I have both the .50 and the .54 caliber LEE Molds. Mine are the improved minnies. To be very honest, I have tried them in a number of rifles and never had much accuracy out of them. It might put two down range real well and then the next one might miss the entire box. I think if a person had something with a real small bore they might work, but I even teflon tape wrapped them. I just never got the kind of accuracy out of them I expected, and the molds sit on a shelf unused, in the wood shop.

Thanks guys.
I was thinking of trying them in my Lyman Mustang just for grins.
CAYUGAD, that'sthe kind of results I've gotten in the past in other rifles with minnies I bought at a gun show. This Mustang is a "loose" 50. Probably not worth the trouble fooling around with them.

you can purchase minnies from a LEE mold at Black Jack Hill Hunting and Fishing. Bill Davis is the owner. He makes them out of pure lead. And is a good fellow to do business with. He also sells other REAL, maxi ball, roundball, and other projectiles at a good price.

Give him a look over. If you have questions he is more then willing to answer them. You could try a few of them and see if your rifle likes them or not, and save the expense of getting a mold that you will never use again.

Thank You CAYUGAD! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Was not aware of the blackjackhill site. Prices look pretty reasonable too.

I tried the Lee Minniein my Lyman Mustang when I tried the Lee REALs. Neither one shot good enough to waste more than enough powder for 3 shots on. About a 10" group at 50 yards! [:@]
