Default First Turkeys!

When my wife came home tonight she surprised 3 turkeys in our field in my clover plot. They're the first ever seen on the property coming up on 6 years. That would add a very cool dimension to life around here. Sorry this wasn't about bagging one or two with BP but I'm pretty excited.

Is clover good at attracting turkey and deer? I have some stuff called Secret spot and has clover and a mixture of other stuff in it. Im laying manure out now and let it set up for a month or so before i plant the seeds.

Clover is a very good addition to a food plot.

Seeing turkey on the property is always exciting. I had five in the woods behind the house last year. One gobbler and four hens. I got my box call and started talking to them but they did not want to talk back. A numer of turkey were relocated from the southern end of the State to the north. Why they wandered on to my land I have no idea, but I have never seen them since. I fear they made a good dinner for the wolves.

Gander- I have winter wheat and clover currently green. The deer and these turkeys are favoring the clover now. I just bush hogged and disked the corn and soybean stubble a week ago. I saw maybe 3 kernels of corn in an acre and not bean one in a similar area. Amazing how they can get every kernel off a husk covered ear.

Cayugad -They've done similar translocations in Maryland. We now have huntable populations in every county. If you saw them last Spring, there may have been something on your property at the time that drew them there and will probably to so again this year.

Thanks for the info. I guess i'll pick up another bag or 2 and spread it out in the front field. We made a home made "tiller" for our 4 wheeler to drag. Works great too.
