Default Future purchase info needed.

I am wanting to get someinput on what type of flintlock to get. While it will be a while before I get one (mainly cause I've more than met my quota for a while with my wife and I need her more than another rifle) and since I pretty well have the inline and SL percussion area covered I'm wanting to widen the experience a bit and start researching flintlocks. My thoughts are leaning toward something in the 54 or better yet 58 caliber range for the extra energy those RB's have. I know I could go with the Lyman GPR in 54 but I already haveone ina Percussion model and I think the 58 would be that much better.

Any thoughts or opinions out there?

Of course I could take a friend up on an offer and build a rifle out of a 20mm F-16 barrel he offered me, but that is another story.

Default RE: Future purchase info needed.

There are always the Thompson Center .58 caliber at Fox Ridge Outfitters. For some reason, GMB does not make a .58 caliber in Flintlock. Of course if you have metal working skills, you might be able to convert one to flint I do not know. Then all you would need is a Renegade Flintlock or .54 caliber T/C Hawkins Flintlock for the barrel to fit into.

Another choice is a custom rifle. Order it now and it might be done by the time your wife calms down for your other purchases..
