Well finally got out and got some shooting in. Shot the black diamondxr at 50 yards. T7 2f. T/C mag sabots 300 gr were the first bullets. This is the first time this gun has been fired and three shot group less than 1'' with open sights. Next I shot 338gr pb. Three shot group was about2''. Then I went down to 240gr mag sabots and the group opened up to 3.5". Then I tried Harvesters crushed rib with there 330gr lead bullets and the group was about 3.5". All these were shot with 90 gr of T72ff. I think this gun is going to be a shooter with the heavier sabots. I was suprised at how this gun shot out of the box!!

Nice shooten! Hope you really enjoyed yourself... it is just a ton of fun for me...

I think you might find out that you BD will shoot a ton of different bullets and shoot 'em well. You have only begun...

Just wondering, I am kinda surprised that some of you groups opened a bit after the first group. Were you patching or swabbing beteen shots? If you were using a damp patch what were you using?

I guess I am a little surprised the PB's open up in your shooting - they are usually a fairly accurate bullet, at least I can say one good thing about them.

Your first group you called TC Mag sabots... were the bullet Hornady's or did you use another bullet in a TC mag sabot. The TC mag sabot is an MMP HPH-24 sabot. If they went down the barrel with kind of a snug feeling I can understand why your group migh open a bit with the crush ribs - you were probably leaking some gas by the looser fitting crush ribs...

Most TC's are pretty decent shooter right out of the box. I am not a real BD fan becase of ho dirty the bolt/hammer area gets with blow back but sure can not complain about their barrels and their accuracy. If you want a good hunting gun that will do the job you got one... now just take care of it so it can work for you.

Keep experimenting...

SL-they were the hornady bullets that come with the sabots. The PB group was a little deciving as 2 bullets were almost touching and the third was about 2" away. I swabed between shots with windshied and alchy. Next time out I'm going to work on those Hornady and PB loads out to 100yds If my eyes can handle it. I bought predater rest and like shooting off it.

Those Black Diamonds are good shooters.

My Black Diamond XR is scoped, but this was a 50 yards group. I was shooting 100 gr of Triple Se7en and 250 gr T/C Shockwaves. My BD on a clean barrel normally shoots high. Then I had an ooops, but the rest looked pretty good.

Like Sabotloader said, the Black Diamond is a great shooter. I have a couple loads worked up for mine that I really trust.

Good shooting on your part. When you can shoot those kind of groups right off the bat with open sights, you're doing fantastic. Keep up the great shooting and have fun with the rifle.

Nice shooting Tenmilephenom!

Were the groups you produced in the same position relative to the point of aim, or was one group straight up, one NW of POA etc? Sounds like you had a blast.

You found out about the light bullets, eh? My Omega and Woods Rifleshoot 240s all over the place at 100. I shoot 5 inch groups at 50 yards with open sights and 240 grain sabots but canput them in the same holewith 300's.

I haven't tried 300 grain Shockwaves but they should perform great.

My Woods Rifle was sighted in out of the box and I have NEVER touched the sights. My Omega took three shots to sight in and hasn't been touched since.

Yeoman, my groups were all in the same area. The weather went to heck here, but next week I'm going to try some 330gr shockwaves and some 300gr ssts.

Mine too. 300 gr sst's shoot good but the 340 DC's shoot better.

Tenmile - those are two excellent ballistic choices and solid choices for deer, if a bit expensive. Will you be hunting with this gun and, if so, for what?
