Default TK 2000 and Cabelo's

I let a friend try my TK 2000 ML shotgun and he didn't want to return it. The pattern at 40 yds using 90 gr T7 and 2 1/2 oz of # 5 shot is awsome. It has a Bushnell Banner 1.75 x 4 turkey scope on it. He offered to buy me a new complete outfit if he could keep this one. Good friends are sometimes hard to find so I said sure. I called Cabelo's this monday and ordered the TK 2000 and it was delivered today Thursday at 10 am. As usuall the fit was excellent as most Knights usually are. I ordered a Nikon Turkey scope online. So by next monday I will be patterening my new TK 2000. We have A BPS and a GM close by but Cabelo's has always come thru for us. I own 3 shotguns that are choked for Turkey but none of them pattern as good as the TK.

A friend of mine who lives to hunt turkey above all other critters, bought a Knight TK2000 for the same reason you state. He said it has more range then his other turkey pump shot gun (I forget the make of that one) He once claimed he shot and dropped a turkey at over 40 yards with his. I am pretty sure he still has a RED DOT scope on his. If I ever get one, I was going with a RED DOT as well, but now hearing about your idea of a low power shotgun scope, perhaps that is a better idea. After all it is not like a person is going to be wing shooting. Then again, get quick release rings and that could be done as well. Let me know how this new shotgun works for you. The only thing my friend jokes about is .. recoil. He said it kicks like a mule.

I just bought the tk 2000 about 3 weeks ago and have a nikon turkey scope on it. I would love to see your targets. I'm using the same loads that you are. 90gr, T7, 2 1/2 0z of #5 shot. I'm killing paper turkeys at 30 yds, butI think that it should be shooting a tighter pattern than what it is. I get a better pattern out of my 1187 using a 1/2 oz less of#5's.Plan on experimenting this weekend. Have any other suggestions???

woodeeee -I am curious, are you using a plastic wad cup? What brand? I use a .62 caliber smoothbore and I use winchester plastic wad cups and then an over the shot card and think this simple 20 guage would be ok out to 30 yards.

Next time I see my friend I will ask him what his load is. I hate to guess, but I remember him talking about 100 grains Pyrodex, then he fills the plastic wad cup, and an over the shot cards on his. But I would not swear to that. I know he was shooting Pyrodex a while agobecause it was what Knight recommended and I watched him load it pheasant hunting one day.

oldwun - that 90 grains would be about the same as 100 grains of Pyrodex so tha tmakes sense. What kind of plastic wad do you use? What did you consider the max range for that shotgun...

thanks (I still really want one in the future)

Thanks for the respnse !! Im using the wad cup that knight sells and the over shot card that comes with them. Knight says that you can use up to 2 1/2 oz of shot. I've been using 2 1/2 counting the wad other wise the wad seems over full. The book says that you can only use up to 100 gr T7. The wads that I'm using are a total of 2 1/2 inches long. Are thewinchester wads shorter?I would have no problem dropping down to 2 oz of shot to get a little betterpattern. I just might have some fun trying to figure it all out. lol.

I looked at a package of the Knight shot cups the other day, they look to be the same thing I've been buying from Balistic Products, the cups are their Multi-Metal 12 gauge 3.5". The loads above are what I've been shooting in my White Tominator for a couple of years now. 90-100 grains of either T7ffg or Pinnacle ffg, BP MM 3.5"cup filled to the top with copper plated #5's, 2 homemade foam insulation overshot cards. Those 3.5" cups are about the same length as a loaded 3" 12 gauge shell, holds lots of shot.

I am using the Knight shot cups. While at the NWTF Annual expo in Nashville a couple of weeks ago I spent a good bit of time with the Knight folks and when we left the booth they gave me 150 of the shot cups. I don't have a target here but the next time I shoot it I,ll try to remeber to post it. I know I had 88% in the 30 inch circle at 35 yards. I did kill a turkey last year at 45 yards. I held 3 inches hi and he was graveyard dead. After u play with your TK a while I think you will be happy. I did shoot 19 gr T7 last year when I made the long shot. Even with the hype nowdays about easy cleaning ML I still would kepp my Knights if I had to get rid of some. which I am not going to do. I have given a couple to some young folks at church that have shown interest in ML.

45 yards is a long shot on a turkey in anyone's book. Congratulations on that. I think I need to keep an eye on the auction sites. I could of had one a while back for $245.00 and passed on it.

The TK is one heck of a shooter. Our season starts April 19. I shoot wad cups fromwww.ballisticproducts.comand they are the same red cups that come with the gun. Some guys shoot without these and just put on an overshot card.I have not tried this but I might just to see. My load is 110 gr Pyro RS Select loose of course with a 3-1/2 wad cup filled with #4 shot 2-1/2 oz. Using Remington Kleenbores. She kicks like a mule but you only have one shot at the bird before they all run off anyway.

Which wads r u using from Ballistics. I see a 3 1/2 and a turk ranger wad. They say the Turk Ranger holds2 1/2 oz of shot and is designed for tight grouping Turkey loads.
