Default still haven't shot my bobcat

closing in on three months and i haven't made it to the range yet other than the time i was going to shoot it and got a nasty patch and made a post about it.

i'm starting to get anxious.

i recently moved an hour and a half away from my range and my rifle to attend a new college and that kind of put a damper on any and all firearm activity i have.

anyway, the reason i made a post is, i'm a bit curious as to the recoil of this little guy. what should i expect with the basic starter load of say 70 grains of pyrodex in relation to a 12 gauge with a 2 3/4 inch 6 shot load or a .270 with a 130 grain factory loaded bullet (the two loads i shoot the most period)?

I'll admit, i'm a wimp and a little scared as i've never shot a ML before.

(i'd put money on the fact that cayugad is probably the first to answer me)

Recoil with 70 grains and a roundball will not be too much at all. Now when you start shooting conicals, the recoil can get more intense.

My Mountain Stalker which is a Bass Pro Bobcat is all, to tame recoil I took the butt plate off the rifle. I then took a pound of #4 buck shot and put that into a vaccum sealer bag and sealed the shot in there. I then sealed that bag into another bag. So it is double sealed and secure. I then stuffed a rag into the bottom of the hollow stock. I then formed the shot to fit the stock and put that into the hollow part of the stock. A small rag on top of all that, and then I replaced the butt plate.

What this did is add a little more weight behind the main breech which absorbs the recoil a little and helps to balance the rifle a little better also. I then threw a cheap set of fiber optic sights on it, and it is a good shooting easy to control little rifle.

Although I am still waiting for CVA to return the lock to me!!! [:@][:@][:@] Come on CVA its been 4 weeks.

I stuffed my neighbor's Bobcat stock with some gray shipping foam and added some lead weights while I was at it. He said it made the gun point better and really helped with recoil reduction.

Of course, I was no where near when he shot that thang.

I let my 8 year old son shoot my two .50cals with 250gr shockwaves and 100gr of pyrodex RS. I have never shot conicals so I can't comment on the recoil of those. You will be fine I am sure. Now if you were asking about a ML shotgun.....that would be a different story....they feel like a train hitting you in the shoulder. Let us know how it shoots because I am going to be on the lookout for that very gun when WalMart starts all of it's clearances after this upcoming season.

I just learned our local Wal Mart is going to do away with all firearm sales. I asked the clerk if that meant supplies also, and she said all she knew is they are not selling anymore guns. That to me is a bad sign in a community that lives to hunt as this area does.

I've been suspicious of what's been happening at Walmart ever since December. I was in our local store, and there was almost zero MZ stuff. That was two weeks before the regular MZ season even starts. I asked the stock clerk about it, andwhile I do not recall his exact words, I left with the feeling they may be exiting the MZ supply line all together. Your post adds to my anxiety. Sounds (feels)almost like a PC move rather than profit motive, though hard to understand an Arkansas company doing that.

A number of walmarts that arnt selling much firearms are doing away with stocking them. Whichs kinda makes sense, If you're not selling them, whats the point of stocking them? Plus they dont ever stock any good models. You'll just mainly see the lower end centerfires.
