Default Could use some Tips on this

I took my barrel off my stock to check that rear lug area and noticed the lug had been eating into the stock a little even with the shims back there. I forget the name of the epoxy i used in the past Acu something and i was thinking about buying some, filling the area and then drill out the hole for the screw and sand down to get the right height level. I just made some thicker shims for right now but would like to go ahead and get some stuff to keep it from eating that area out. Any ideas?

Jon

I think I would bed that entire action. Could your front screw have been loose?? I would definitely not shim-I would bed all of it. Tom.

Nice weld on that barrel lug too, looks like it will hold forever.

I think I would bed the gun too. It won't hurt a thing.[8D]

Ok i couldnt wait till morning. I just finished it up, i'll let it dry and test fit the barrel and sand some if i have too. I even put a very thin coat on the front lug area just to make sure i never have a problem there. Looks like i wont have to worry about it doing that again but you never know until you shoot it. I'll do any touch up on it tomorrow if i have to add/remove any.

Looks like it came out ok but i wanted some opinions on the little square mark it left in the jb weld. Should i fill that again or just call it good? I have enough on there to hopefully prevent it from digging in. If you look close you can see the little square mark in talking about. It barely catches a finger nail. Im going to put one of my shims under it just so theres no metal to jb weld contact, see if that helps any. The ridge is maybe the thickness of a sheet of paper, i think it will be fine. What do you guys think? add more of give it a go?

Got some shots off with the reinforced stock and i used the 240 grain .44 sabots i had left. Yes thats right, i found the 240 grains and put the 215 grain bullets some where where i couldnt accidently grab those instead . 4 shots of the 4 wheeler seat @ 100 yards with the truglo ghost ring and then 3 more with 295 grain powerbelts @ 100 yards. I was suprised at how low the powerbelts shot. I was only using 90 grains and i know the powerbelts in this rifle shoot best with 120 grains loose RS. But after this i dont think i will be giving up on those home cast bullets anytime soon. I got the gun apart and the jb weld looks like its holding up fine and doesnt look like its digging in. Cant wait to get some great plains bullets and try them out. My best shots so far stand at 1" off sandbags, and after shooting this off the 4 wheeler seat, im really looking forward to seeing what it does off sandbags at the next NRA trip.
