Default Was a beautiful day for shooting.

Started out this morning at 4F and no wind lots of sun. I decided I needed to shoot since it wasn't windy.
I wanted to try some 54 sabots for 50cal (385gr.)bullets sabotloader aka conicalshooter aka Mike sent me. I had tried them in the bore a few days ago so knew they worked. I can thumb push them to the end of the pedals about like the red 54 MMP sabots.
Anyway 50yds.with 100gr. T7 Remington 209 primers they shot whatI believe will be my 54 cal load except for useing 300gr. Speer gold dots instead. Ya I some how managed to pull #3.

Also shot some CVA 300gr. lead bullets in red sabots Mike sent. Horriable things to load till Irolled them on the tongue, still hard but not like the first one. Recoil was not what I would call mild either. Awful group to with 100gr T7.

And the last three were T/C Mag express with 230HP XTP's 100gr. T7. Boy do these load easy.

I also shot a bunch of center fires too. Just a great day so wind less there is no wind chill.

Nice shooting there.. I was going to shoot but it has been snowing hard all day, cold, windy, and company stopped over all morning ... so we had the coffee pot on and wasted the day away.

It is a beautiful day. 65 degrees in southern colorado and going to be like this all week and next week! Instead of shooting, im out cleaning my truck and getting ready for the 16th when i take my 2 nephews up in the mountain lakes fishing. Now im getting to the hard part of having to wash all the winter mud off the truck. You think sabotloaders truck was dirty, whoa you havnt seen mine! lol. Great shooting BTW. Ive never seen those sabots before.

alleyooper - Good shooting.

I'd guess you were saying the CVA were awful, but they were significantly closer to POA than the other groups. You don't give the gun you used, but given it's an in line, makes me wonder if reducing 10-15 grains of powder might not tighten that CVA group into something special. Then again, if they were tough to load, who needs them. Guessing they raised the barrel pressure's why I suggested less powder.

Is the gun scoped?

Sorry the rifle was my Remington 700 ML.

Yes Mike I was saying the first picture with the 54/50 was an awful group. In fact despite my pulling shot number 3 I felt awful GOOD.

No I ment the CVA group was awful. Spread out and since it was close to the bull instead of 2 inches high Like I have the scope set.

I trieda red sabots (bright and shinny) with some 430da. 240gr. Hornadays, fell down the barrel so easy I checked to see if I could shake it out. the sabot stayed but the bullet fell out. I'm guessing they require a 451/452 da. bullet which I hadn't taken any extra.
Used a bunch of the Hornaday white sabots with the 430 bullets with good results too.
Anyway thanks Mike for the sabots and bullets. I have a nice black an blue sholder this morning.
We got about 2 1/2 inches of snow last evening scattered snow showers for today.
Possiable 50F for next Tuesday.

Al
