Just got done shooting my 100yard target with 90 grains and 70 grains pyro RS with the .44 240 grain sabot. I got a best of 4" groups out of these bullets @100. Before i give up on the sabots im going to buy more SST 250 grain sabots and give those a try, i got great accuracy with those but it seems the 44's are possibly to loose and thats why they are not grouping well. Also the first time i shot 100 yards with the ghost ring and i love it! It doesnt cover my entire target picture and i can pin point it on the circle. The sabots were just an experiment and cheap to shoot since i had them but my normal hunting load will be 385 grain great plains bullet with 90 grains RS. Thats the best load ive worked up so far. Im screwed both ways now, Im out of powder and bullets now. 120 shots in 4 weeks is a record for me. But im happy with the way the ghost ring worked out for me so i'll just restock my suppy of GP bullets and pick up a box of hornady sst's.
i knew there was something fishy about those .44's. At the NRA on a windy day 15-20mph wind they were grouping in the 6" area and the SST's on the same day on weather condition were grouping 1 1/4" @ 100 yrds. Later on in during the summer i'll buy more .44 sabots and buy maybe some XTP's and see how those shoot. The flatnosed bullets i used probably wernt the best for any accuracy past 75 yards. Now that im out of lead and powder, the 30-06 is coming out. Ive been inside the house way to long and the cold is finally gone. Whens summer coming?

Better get your bullets quick they are going up. I bought 2 boxes of Remington Corelock 30-06 yesterday at WalMart and they were $14/box. They were $11 when I bought them back in November. All the lead is being used by the military.

For centerfires we reload all of those. Just got back in from shooting the 40 and the 44mag. 44 was awesome to shoot at 100 yards but needs adjusting tomorrow. But as of now i need a couple lbs of pyrodex rs and some gp bullets for my inline. It will be fun buying conicals for my .45 muzzleloader when it comes in. Im going to give the 255grain maxi hunters a try in that.
No friggin wonder these shot so open! I was going through the bullet closet and found the paper with the bullets and they are not 240 grain after all. They turned out to be 215 grain! Now im tempted to try it with lower powder charges and see what happens.
