Default Question for cayugad or anybody else

As you know the Lightning has a painted finish over the wood stock. My question is would the wax made by birchwood casey work on a stock that has a painted finish? Or is their anything else that would work to help protect the stock? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Well if the wood stock is painted, would something like polyurethane or varnish work? I've never had a painted stock. While I am sure the wax would help, I think it would not be as durable as you might like.

It's been years since I bought a good varnish. Perhaps a high gloss polyurethane might work just as well. There are a lot of good brands of that on the market. I have some sealercalled Gym Seal. It was used for gym floors. About four coats of that and then wax the devil out of it. Might be a little slick though when it got wet...

Try the wax, why not? What is paint? What is varnish? One is clear and the other has pigment. I would think any product made for stocks would work just fine on paint.
