Well, I finally bought a T/C Scout, after drooling over them for years. So, I'm on a quest for a good deer hunting scope for it. I've always thought an illuminated reticle would be great for low light. So, here's my idea of what a perfect scope would be for my new gun: illuminated reticle, 1.5-5x32, water&shockproof, compact, at least 4" eye relief, and around or under $100. But I've got a couple of questions that I need help on.
One (almost) perfect scope for my purposes would be a Simmons ProDiamond w/illuminated reticle. It meets all the criteria I've listed above, but the parallax is 50 yards. I like to shoot deer out to 120 yards or so. Would the 50 yard parallax screw that up?
Anybody have any other scopes that meet these criteria that they'd recommend?
Last: I do like the look of the Bushnell Banner Dawn to Dusk, 1.5-4.5x32, but it doesn't have an illuminated reticle. So, okay, the name implies it should be good for low light. But, is it? More than once I've wanted to shoot deer just a couple minutes after legal a.m. time, but the light was on the "iffy" side for my scope.
I have had the Bushnel dusk to dawn on my CVA for three years. This works great in low light, thats when most of my shots seem to come up with deer hunting. For the price, I would reccommend it. I think that the Buchnell banner is also a very good scope, there is no difference in performance to me - I am no expert - and the price is about $80.
Either one I would reccomend, the banner if price is an issue.
